The excess skin, fat and glandular tissue surrounding the areola and the base of the breast are removed and brought together to reshape the breast. Stitches will be located around the areola, in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipple area and along the lower crease of the breast.
For smaller breast reductions it may be possible to perform the surgery without the horizontal or breast crease incision.
