breast reduction - results - detailed illustration.
breast reduction surgery results

Healing will take some time following surgery. You will wear an elastic bandage or surgical bra over gauze dressings. A small tube may be placed in each breast to drain excess fluid and blood for the first few days. Expect bruising and swelling to last up to a week. You will be in pain but should manage to remain comfortable with pain medications. Your breasts will be swollen and you may have decreased sensation around your nipples - sensation will return for most but not all women. Your surgeon will ask you to not lift anything over five pounds and to refrain from lifting your arms over your head immediately following the surgery. Stitches should be removed in about 1-2 weeks or longer.

Breast reduction scars are extensive and permanent - they will take a year to fully mature and may even fade to thin white lines. They will be well hidden even with minimal clothing.
